About Dragon Boating

Dragon Boat Racing is the ultimate team sport with no individual heroes. Each paddler’s contribution is essential which constantly encourages you to exceed your own limits and expectations.  This fosters a strong bond between members which understandably creates a high-spirited team sport.

Dragon boating offers a great all body workout and the paddling motion involves the legs, stomach, arms, and shoulders.
Benefits include strength, flexibility, and endurance. No experience is required, you can commence at any level of fitness.

Dragon Boat Racing is the oldest continually raced sport in the world which dates back to the 4th century BC in China.

About Our Club

Darwin Waterfront Warriors Paddlers Club (DWW) was founded in December 2013. We are an enthusiastic dragon boat club catering for both the competitive paddler and the social paddler and we welcome anyone of any level of fitness, ability, age or gender to come and try Dragon Boating.  We are current members of the Australian Dragon Boat Federation (AUSDBF).

Australian Dragon Boat Federation - http://www.ausdbf.com.au/

Our club has competed at International and National Championships, participated in the annual Ord River Marathon, a spectacular 55km marathon paddle down the mighty Ord River from Lake Argyle to Kununurra and held events such as “Come and Try Dragon Boating” as part of the Arafura Games.  We have occasional come and try events, some open to the general community, some for specific communities or organisations, for example for Seniors Week and for groups of teachers, health workers, and high school students.

We are based in Cullen Bay, Darwin and train 3 times a week on the water.

Our purpose is to have fun, fitness, and friendship through the sport of dragon boating, both on and off the water. We strive to provide a friendly and inclusive training environment for all paddlers and experience levels, fostering a sense of community and equality.

Play by the Rules - we support the aims of providing a safe, fair and inclusive environment in sport and recreation. We encourage all members to complete the on-line courses in child protection and harassment and discrimination. (http://www.playbytherules.net.au/interactive-scenarios/free-online-training)
